Fingers of volcanic rock near Millook north Cornwall coast

So, we’re all set then for Walking Week: 16th to 22nd April. It seems to come round more quickly each time and for some this annual event has become a regular part of the calendar and a “must do” in Cornwall.  At Orchard Lodge we see it not just as a way of attracting more of you to the b&b but a chance for all of us to step out into the beautiful, unspoilt landscape that surrounds Boscastle. There are simply dozens of walks and other events to get involved in; some simple strolls, other more difficult treks, painting groups, poetry sessions and lots of food and drink. This year I’ll be taking some of you on one of my very favourite walks, around the tiny cove of Millook, on a little used road between Crackington Haven and Widemouth Bay near Bude. We’ll be walking in some wonderful country, through ancient woods and fields and steep coast paths. We’ll find out about pirates and smugglers ( they’re the owlers), telling tales of shipwrecks,  the dastardly murder of a local vicar struck down at the altar; a 17th century Romeo and Juliet, a hidden tennis court and, as they say, much, much more. You’ve still got time to check in here at Orchard Lodge – http://orchardlodgeboscastle.co.uk/book-now/ – and you can check out the whole Walking Week programme on www.visitboscastle.co.uk  Just don’t forget your boots.
